Introduction
AHI is a medical nutrition service run by board certified physicians, clinical dietitians and other healthcare experts. We offer an integrated approach to weight loss and nutrition. We provide clinical services to support existing medical practices and can provide aggressive programs for weight control and nutritional therapy. We strive to utilize the best elements of traditional medicine, nutritional science, psychology, and fitness so we can improve or even prevent chronic medical conditions. AHI services are designed to address the most fundamental issues affecting health: excess weight, poor nutrition, and sedentary lifestyle. We are not interested in short term results, our goal is to prepare individuals for a lifetime of good health. We believe our clinical programs will help support your doctor’s goals for reducing dependence on medications, avoiding disease complications, improving quality of life, and reducing healthcare costs.
In our bariatric program, we are able to treat patients who have serious medical illnesses that would benefit from weight reduction. All of our clients are considered patients - we have the full capability to manage all aspects of their condition. We collaborate closely with referring doctors. We have had tremendous success in patients with advanced liver disease, severe heartburn, type II diabetes, sleep apnea, ,coronary artery disease, heart failure and others. AHI also offers an active daytime nutritional consulting service for patients that need dietary plans for conditions like heart disease, high cholesterol, celiac sprue, food allergies, IBS, weight loss, cancer therapy, and many more.
For convenience, you or your doctor can register online for any of our services. We offer three different programs for our patients: medical weight management, clinical nutrition, and risk reduction services. Read our frequently asked questions section (FAQs) and enroll in a program near you.
Weight Management Program
The weight management program offers a very effective method for safely losing from 30 to more than 150 pounds with no surgery or diet pills. All patients undergo an entry medical evaluation, blood work , and possibly an EKG. They may also require clearance from the referring doctor and other specialists. Weight reduction can result in a significant improvement in conditions like type II diabetes, fatty liver, cirrhosis, heart disease, elevated cholesterol, depression, heartburn, orthopedic disability and others. Most patients can reduce or eliminate many of their medications as a result of our program. We also offer shorter programs for patients with special circumstances such as losing weight before surgery to lower operative risk or helping patients lose weight so they have a better chance of clearing the hepatitis C virus with interferon therapy.
You should also know that AHI is not a surgical program, we are board certified digestive and nutrition specialists. Our goal is to provide clinical programs as part of a medical practice which will teach behaviors that can get the weight off and keep it off. Our physicians are medical doctors and are able to take care of complicated patients. Our doctors are also able to safely eliminate or reduce chronic medications during the program when no longer needed.
